Prairie dropseed (Sporobolus heterolepsis)
A low-growing perennial grass with a fountain-like appearance. Leaves bend towards the ground, Numerous seed heads give the grass a soft, fuzzy appearance in mid-summer. The grass turns golden in the late summer. Seeds are eaten by songbirds and small mammals.
