Interrupted Fern (Osmunda claytonia)

Large fern with arching fronds growing from central crown. Many fronds possess distinct ‘interruptions’ on the frond stem caused by fertile pinnae (leaflets). Robust creeping rhizome, often with remnants of stipe bases. Common to the slopes of moist woods, the edges of marshes and swamps, and sometimes dry meadows.
