Rattlesnake grass (Glyceria canadensis)
A grass that occurs in stands in marshes, swamps, and and the wet margins of streams and ponds. Leaves are used for nesting material by songbirds. Distinctive, drooping seeds resemble rattlesnake rattles. Seed heads reach a height of 4-6 feet and are readily eaten by birds, waterfowl, and small mammals.
