Wild ginger (Asarum canadense)

Woodland perennial with velvety heart shape leaves. A solitary purple flower hides at the base of the plant and is pollinated by native bumble bees. Ribbon-rhizome grows shallow and horizontal. The plant emits a ginger-like fragrance.
