Golden Alexanders (Zizia aurea)
A small (1-3 feet height) perennial with multiple yellow flower heads (umbels) that erupt on 2-3″ long stems above compound toothed leaves. Common to wet meadows, open woods, thickets, and the margins of ponds, lakes, and streams. The plant is the host of the swallow-tail butterfly larvae. Suitable for full sun to part shaded habitats.
