Tufted hairgrass (Deschampsia cespitosa)
A perennial grass that grows in a circular tuft and produces numerous feather-like seed heads on stems that reach 6 to 12 inches above the grass blades. Seeds are eaten by birds. Feather-like seed heads and greenish-blue color of leaves makes grass a desirable ornamental.
