Boneset (Eupatorium perfoliatum)
Perennial wildflower common to wet meadows, marshes, streambanks and the margins of ponds and lakes. Also frequently found in roadside ditches along with joe-pye weed, blue vervain, and New England aster. Butterflies and bees are frequent visitors to the attractive white flowers. Opposite, toothed leaves clasp around the stem. Small seeds with tufts are readily dispersed by wind. Reputed to have medicinal benefits.
