Green bulrush (Scirpus atrovirens)
A perennial sedge-like plant common to wet meadows, marshes, bogs, and forested wetlands. Several flowering stems (flowers tiny and inconspicuous) rise above the main tuft of leaves. Upon maturity, brown seed heads are a valuable food for songbirds, including finches and wrens. Dense stands provide nesting habitat for blackbirds, wrens, and ducks.
