Yellow water lily (Nuphar lutea)
Sub-aquatic plant with large oval shaped floating leaves and prominent yellow flowers. Common to the shallows of streams, ponds, and lakes. Stems transport oxygen from the large round leaves down to the 2-6 inch diameter rhizome. Excellent oxygenator for ponds prone to algae. Leaves shade water and provide habitat for fish and amphibians.
