Woolgrass (Scirpus cyperinus)
A tall sedge-grass with a clumping tufts of blades (up to 4 feet in height) with a white seed heads produced amidst a mass of cotton-like fibers. Seeds are eaten by songbirds during the late summer and early fall. Commonly found in wet meadows, marshes, and along streambanks. Can survive long periods of inundation.
